The Tianjin Xiaoshan Minerals Processing Factory is an all-purpose drying, crushing, grinding, screening, blending and packaging plant handling ~150,000 metric tons per year of calcined bauxites originating from Shanxi Province, flint clays, precision casting sands and brown fused alumina. Situated in the northern China industrial complex of Tanggu-Tianjin, Tianjin Xiaoshan was established to handle these lower alkalai and higher-density shaft-rotary-round kiln calcined bauxite produced in Shanxi Province - the favored low cost raw material source for bauxite in many refractory plants worldwide. |

| Tianjin Xiaoshan plays an important role in the handling of Shanxi calcined bauxites and any other raw materials that the Nanchuan Minerals Group supplies worldwide and exports through the port of Xingang. Firstly, the operation acts as a 'material evaluation and testing facility' for incoming shipments: lump material is stockpiled and sampled to confirm the chemistry and sizing before loading onboard vessel. In some cases, lump material is rescreened or dried before shipment. |

Secondly, the shipment of sized calcined bauxite - packaged in bulk bags - is a growing area of the Chinese refractory raw materials export business. Many refractory companies and processors around the world conclude that it is now less expensive to have their products sized in China than in their own plant or country. Tianjin Xiaoshan produces a wide variety of sized calcined bauxite to fulfill this demand, which also includes special blends and mixes of various refractory raw materials. Tianjin Xiaoshan is a joint venture between the Nanchuan Minerals Group and the Nissho Iwai Ceramics Corporation, who is responsible for overseeing the operation and equipment. |
